Day 1

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa

  1. Welcome at Bole International Airport.
  2. City tour: Visit the National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, and Ethnological Museum.
  3. Traditional Ethiopian dinner at a cultural restaurant.

Day 2: Fly to Bahir Dar – Explore Lake Tana

  1. Morning flight to Bahir Dar.
  2. Take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit ancient island monasteries such as Ura Kidane Mehret.
  3. Relax by the lakeside and enjoy the sunset.
  4. Overnight in Bahir Dar.

Day 3: Explore Bahir Dar and Drive to Gondar

  1. Morning excursion to the Blue Nile Falls (“Tis Abay”), known as the "Smoking Water."
  2. Afternoon drive to Gondar (3 hours).
  3. Overnight in Gondar.

Day 4: Explore Gondar – Castles and Churches

  1. Visit the UNESCO-listed Fasil Ghebbi (Royal Enclosure) and its castles.
  2. Explore Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famous for its angelic ceiling frescoes.
  3. Overnight in Gondar.
Day 5

Day 5: Drive to Simien Mountains National Park

  1. Morning drive to Simien Mountains National Park (3–4 hours).
  2. Trek to view stunning landscapes and spot endemic wildlife like the Gelada baboons.
  3. Overnight in a lodge near the park.

Day 6: Drive to Axum – Explore Ancient Sites

  1. Scenic drive to Axum (6–7 hours) through beautiful mountain landscapes.
  2. Visit Axum's obelisks, Queen of Sheba’s Palace, and St. Mary of Zion Church, home of the Ark of the Covenant (legendary).
  3. Overnight in Axum.

Day 7: Visit Tigray – Gheralta Mountains and Rock-Hewn Churches

  1. Morning drive to the Gheralta Mountains in Tigray.
  2. Visit Abuna Yemata Guh, an iconic rock-hewn church requiring a short hike with incredible views.
  3. Explore other churches like Maryam Korkor and Daniel Korkor.
  4. Overnight in Hawzen or Mekele.

Day 8: Drive to Lalibela via Sekota

  1. Full-day scenic drive to Lalibela (8–9 hours), passing through remote Ethiopian highlands.
  2. Overnight in Lalibela.
Day 9

Day 9: Discover the Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela

  1. Full-day visit to the 11 monolithic rock-hewn churches (UNESCO World Heritage Site), including the iconic St. George Church.
  2. Optional evening coffee ceremony.
  3. Overnight in Lalibela.

Day 10: Fly Back to Addis Ababa – Departure

  1. Morning flight from Lalibela to Addis Ababa.
  2. Free time for shopping or visiting Mercato, one of Africa’s largest markets.
  3. Farewell dinner at a cultural restaurant before your international departure.
